Ruth's Update, 14 Oct
Ruth's update for Sunday
Mom was being monitored for her blood sugar and heart rate. She has a chest x-ray done while in her bed. At noon her blood pressure reading was 92/45. At 1pm, Dr Seeram showed me her latest chest x-ray and it showed most of her right lung being cleared of the fluid except for perhaps only 100 cc left. She consulted with a senior and they agreed that the chest tube need not be re-inserted.
Mom finished a small cup of apple juice and I asked for some cream to apply on her dry skin. She didn't like the grape fruit juice though. Every few hours, they let her breath in medicine to open her airways.
A new IV tube was inserted through her right arm and I heard the nurse tell Dr Seeram, this time, it wouldn't come off as easily with a better plaster firmly secured. Mom was asking aloud why she is so sleepy and the nurse heard my interpretation. She told Mom that she was not well and it was okay to go ahead and sleep.
5th aunt called around 3.45 pm but Mom was too drowsy to talk. Then she started talking in her sleep asking where were her children. I am not sure whether she was talking about the past or the present. She may not know she was not in Houston. She appeared agitated as she exclaimed that one by one the children left and why has See-Ing not come to the house for such a long time.
I tried to rouse her to reasurred her. A nurse came in to see why her heart rate was suddenly going up. She took her blood pressure and found it low and the doctor ordered a saline IV drip for her.
When Jonah came at 6pm, she was still sleeping soundly.
