Update #3 from Ruth, 24 Oct

It was raining heavily. I arrived 2pm to stay with Jonah while Sarah went back to her online study and work at home. At 2.30pm, Grandma wanted to drink. See-Ing said, if she started pulling at her oxygen mask, she may be ready to take some food. She allowed me to feed her a variety of fluid with a syringe. She had 16cc of Ensure, 20cc of broth, 20cc of apple juice, 20 cc of xango and 30 cc of water after which she signalled "stop" with her hand that she had enough. Then she slept.

At 3.30pm, she was able to reply a few phrases when Lang called but the next minute, when Hong called, she just listened and grunted and could not talk.

At 4.35pm, Dr Topalidis came. Grandma nodded "no difficulty in breathing and no pain " when he asked. He said the amount of fluid draining indicated there is more fluid level in the lung than he had hoped. He will be repeating the pleurodesis procedure sometime this evening. He is on night duty.

5.15pm, the nurses turned her to lie on left and to check on her catheter. They noted a brown discharge that don't seemed like blood. They will report to the doctor. Since she is awake, I fed her and she could only take 4 cubes of jello, 10cc Xango, 20cc broth, 10 cc water.

6.25pm, she woke up and was moaning a little. 2 mg of morphine was given. They had let her lie on her left side. Once in awhile, she lifted her right arm up and we held it there as she said it relieved the hurt she is feeling on her right side. She mumbled a little to Cara and dozed off.

7.30pm, she pulled on her oxygen mask and I fed her 3 cubes of jello, 40cc Ensure and 20cc water. See-Ing and King will stay the night.
