A brief update to Dad's earlier message: Sue from the hospice facility dropped by today and confirmed that yes, it is possible to transfer a patient to hospice while a chest tube is still in. Comfort is their highest priority.
And just a personal observation about the staff at Shands. Everyone that I have seen interact with Grandma has been courteous, kind, and friendly. They speak directly to her and ask us to translate their inquiries. They treat her with great gentleness and respect.
