Update #3 from Megan, 22 Oct
Dr. Topalidis, a thoracic surgeon, came in while I was at lunch. He told Uncle King that they would be doing the pleurodesis procedure later today. I followed up with Dr. Seeram and she explained that because the latest chest tube output does not seem to be the "malignant effusion", they are going ahead with the procedure. However, the fact that there is still so much fluid means that talcum powder would not be an effective agent; instead, they will be using bleomycin, which used to be used as a chemotherapy drug. It was pulled when it was found to cause pulmonary fibrosis; however, it is ideally suited for this purpose.
We heard from Hong and Lang that they made it back to Houston safely. We've also heard that Uncle Deng has obtaining his visa and will be arriving in Jacksonville on Friday. King and I are about to turn things over to Keeng and Ruth, who have just arrived and will be staying for the next several hours.
